Overview

OECD member Number of trade union cases 4 NCP Type Interdepartmental Committee
Description The Candian NCP is an Inter-ministerial Committee, comprising eight departments chaired by the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT). The Secretariat of the NCP is situated in the Trade Commissioner Service Support Division of DFAIT. The Canadian NCP has sought to achieve 'impartiality' through the breadth of its inter-governmental Committee, the adoption of decision-making by consensus and the hiring of an independent professional mediator. On promotion the Canadian NCP provides briefings for all trade commissioners being posted abroad and promotes the Guidelines at regional conferences. The Canadian Government has a fund for the promotion of CSR which is used by embassies abroad - the OECD Guidelines are included in such events.

Procedures The Canadian NCP has published comprehensive procedures, which are available on its web site. These reflect the updated 2011 Guidelines.
